Lyons Cottage description Lyons Cottage is a newly renovated cosy cottage which boasts a countryside setting, 4 miles from Ballacolla village, 5 miles from the heritage town of Abbeyleix. The cottage has been lovingly restored to its former glory and has been finished to a very high standard with the added bonus of a second lounge which has a wood burning stove. This is a fisherman's paradise with the River Nore 7 miles which is famous for salmon. For great days out why not head to Dublin or take a drive to the Sunny South East, a day at the races in the Curragh or an afternoon in the Japanese gardens. Shop. Pub. Restaurant 4 miles. This is a fisherman's paradise - Two of the main rivers in Ireland run through Laois – the Nore and the Barrow (which rises in the Slieve Blooms) among other rivers. Laois is also renowned for the Grand Canal and its many well-stocked lakes. The game and coarse angler are well catered for in this hidden haven in the heart of Ireland . The river Barrow is well known as a game and coarse angling river for salmon, brown trout, roach, rudd, perch and tench. The river Nore provides excellent fishing and has good pike and salmon stocks. Coarse anglers are spoilt for choice between canals, rivers and a vast number of scenic lakes.
