Located in the small coastal resort of St Helens overlooking the village green, this property is just a few moments’ walk from the local pub, restaurant and shop. It occupies an attractive central position in the coastal resort of St Helens, where cricket is sometimes played. St. Helens carnival, sports and fair is also centred round the village green each August Bank Holiday weekend. Close to the local beach which offers an excellent swimming and paddling spot, while the larger seaside towns of Ryde and Sandown are only a short drive away. Wonderful walks can be enjoyed through the large, open National Trust area, which commands some of the loveliest views on the island. Also stop by Osborne House and the yachting town of Cowes east and west with their long promenades and the expansive Parkhurst Forest, a haven for red squirrels. Dating back more than three hundred years, this Grade II-listed thatched cottage still retains many original features from exposed beams to original fireplaces. This is a self-contained property comprising the larger part of a detached stone cottage. (The owners use the smaller adjoining part of The Poplars as a retreat and when visiting they have access through the garden to the shed and top gate). The kitchen/diner includes an electric oven, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine and a door opening onto the garden. The lounge is homely and inviting with comfortable sofas and armchairs, a log effect electric fire and TV/DVD. Also, on the ground floor is a bathroom with electric shower over the bath and WC. Upstairs are two pretty bedrooms, one double and one twin with an additional z bed which is available to be placed in the double bedroom on request if required, the z bed is suitable for up to 13 year olds. Both rooms boast original feature fireplaces and overlook the village green to the downs beyond. Outside, there are delightful fenced gardens to the front and rear of the property with an attractive patio and garden furniture for enjoying al fresco meals in the sunshine. Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
