Farthings is a very smart country house hotel situated in a pretty part of Somerset just a few miles from Taunton. The charming Georgian façade, with its flower bedecked wrought iron balcony, hides the true size of the building, which has been extended at the back to provide more rooms overlooking the large mature garden. Inside it has elegant public rooms, unusually spacious bedrooms for a hotel of this size and flexible accommodation for owners. The trade is a good mix of commercial during the week and short break visitors during the summer and at weekends, as well as the restaurant and a growing wedding business, for which the hotel is ideally suited. Hatch Beauchamp was bypassed some twenty-five years ago and is now a quiet and most desirable village near to the very busy and expanding county town of Taunton (population around 55,000), the M5 motorway and, in the other direction, the A303.
